community park gets the green light

A community park in Sale West, is set to benefit from £25,500 from the Ministry of Housing, Local Government & Communities to deliver ambitious plans for refurbishment.

Co-ordinated by Irwell Valley Homes, Our Sale West (the Big Local partnership) and Trafford Council, the project will establish a 'Friends of Sale West Park' group that will work in conjunction with ONE Trafford to organise the management of the new play area and plan ahead for long term stewardship of the wider park.

The grant will support a new infant play area, as well as new play equipment and boundary treatments. The new play area will benefit from easier access from the public footpaths and enable the play equipment to be moved from under the trees which will help to preserve it for years to come.

This work is the first phase of the refurbishment of the park. The overall plan includes an amphitheatre, improvements to pathways and surfaces, a dedicated dog walking area and a new youth play area that includes a youth shelter and a scooter track. We hope that the first phase will help us to secure funding to complete our vision for this central park in the heart of the Sale West community.

Chief Executive of Irwell Valley Homes, Sasha Deepwell said "This is fantastic news for residents living in Sale West, a community we have served for the past twenty years. We have plans to significantly improve the homes we own there, as well as building new homes to meet the growing demand for affordable homes in this thriving and popular neighbourhood. The new park is an important part of our plans and will be a fantastic facility for the local community."
