We were pleased to welcome so many local residents to a community consultation event about our plans for new affordable homes on the site of the old Denton Baths this week – but it’s not too late to share feedback on the proposals.

We will be hosting another event on Thursday 2nd February from 5pm to 7pm at Denton Festival Hall. Local people will be able to view the plans, chat with the design and development team and leave written feedback.

If you can’t make it, you can email your views to our development manager Louise Marsden: louise.marsden@irwellvalley.co.uk until Monday February 6th.

The current proposals include 36 one-bedroomed apartments and 10 two-bedroomed apartments for people who may need help and support to live independently.  With communal facilities, parking and landscaped gardens, they will be let at an affordable rent and allocated to residents in Tameside who are most in need.

The number of homes and parking spaces has been carefully considered using insight about car ownership from similar schemes in comparable locations.

Sasha Deepwell, our Chief Executive, said: “We are pleased to be sharing proposals for the new homes on the former Denton Baths site, providing high quality, affordable new homes for those who may need help to live independently.

“All of the homes will be fully wheelchair accessible and have level access shower rooms. There will be lift access to all floors and features including electric charging points and storage for mobility scooters.

“There is a real need for this type of accommodation locally and working with Tameside Council we will ensure any new homes go to those most in need.  This type of accommodation significantly improves the lives of residents and also helps to reduce the burden on stretched health and social care services.

“We welcome feedback on how we best bring this derelict land back into use, meeting local needs and enhancing the area. We thank local residents for sharing their views on the proposals.”
