As 2025 begins, I’m getting in touch with an important update about the next phase of the Sale West regeneration.
You will soon see fencing being put up around the site and service diversions have begun in some areas as part of the preparations.
What are we building in phase 3?
Our new contractor RP Tyson starts work this month on an apartment block of 39 homes, available for social rent.
Blocks two and three – which will begin later – will provide homes for older people and specialist supported housing to help meet local housing need.
Where are we building them?
Block one is off Thirsk Avenue next to the Sale West Community Centre and Sale West Park.
Block two is off Chepstow Avenue and is next to the Phoenix Garden.
Block 3 is off Ascot Avenue and is next to Ascot House Assessment Centre.
How will the building work affect me as I move around the estate?
If you currently access your home by vehicle, you’ll be able to continue doing so throughout the building work.
You will also be able to walk or cycle to the community centre and youth centre from anywhere on the estate.
Access from Hurst Avenue and Hamilton Avenue to other parts of the estate will be possible on foot / bike, although the route will take a few more minutes. This is because it will not be possible to bear left from Hurst or Hamilton - instead you will need to go around as this map shows here. I’m sorry for the inconvenience this causes.

We’ll also have maps with alternative routes signposted across the affected areas.
All routes will be level access to ensure they are suitable for mobility aids and prams. We are also working with our partners Amey to make sure these areas are lit when it’s dark.
If there is anything you are concerned about on these pedestrian routes please let us know.
What about car parking?
Car park spaces near to the current allotment site will be closed off during this work, along with a small number on Thirsk Avenue. I’m sorry for the inconvenience this may cause.
Alternative spaces are available within a few metres.
What else will be impacted?
The Community Allotment is now closed but will re-open in a new and improved location. The new site is larger and will also have a fitted water supply which is something members have been keen to arrange for some time.
Sale West Park and the infant and junior playgrounds will all remain open throughout all building work.
The Phoenix Garden will also remain where it is and will be open throughout.
