Isobel Aspinwall, Housing Officer
Bowden Vale, Timperley, Stretford & Urmston

For those of you who don’t already know me, I’m Isobel, the Housing Officer for Bowden Vale, Timperley, Stretford, Urmston and Wythenshawe. I joined the role in June after moving across from our Independent Living team and have been enjoying getting to know you and learning more about the neighbourhoods I now oversee.
I have recently completed the autumn estate audits and wanted to give you an update about your neighbourhood.
Repairs
During my inspections, I noted a number of minor repairs needed on some estates and have reported them to Irwell Valley Homes' repairs team. Thank you to everyone who reported concerns at Scott Mill House – I have also passed these onto our repairs team for investigation and appropriate action.
Please continue to report any repairs through our online portal or by calling us on 0300 561 1111 or emailing contact@irwellvalley.co.uk so we can ensure they are logged and dealt with as quickly as possible.
Fly-tipping
I’d like to thank residents at Langham Court, as there has been a noticeable improvement where fly-tipping is concerned. However, this does continue to be an issue across several neighbourhoods. We're using CCTV to identify the people responsible where possible and have introduced a new policy to charge them the cost of clearing it.
Residents in Trafford can arrange and pay for bulky waste collections directly with the council. Find out more here. Residents in Manchester are entitled to three free bulky waste collections per year. Find out more here.
If you see fly-tipping, please report it. If you know who is responsible, any information or evidence you can provide will help us investigate and take action.
Items in communal areas
I’d also like to remind customers that items should not be stored in communal spaces, in line with our sterile policy. You can view the policy here.
To help keep our buildings safe and accessible for everyone, we will be taking action to ensure communal spaces remain clear, including removing items within a 7-day notice period where necessary.
Monthly drop-ins
We hold weekly drop-ins at Sale West Community Centre where you can get support and raise any issues.
When: Every Thursday
Where: Sale West Community Centre Newbury Avenue, M33 4QW
Times: 10am - 12pm
If you can’t attend a drop-in, I am still here to support. You are always welcome to request a home visit or phone call by calling 0300 561 1111 or emailing contact@irwellvalley.co.uk.
Join our customer complaints panel
We’ve recently launched a new customer group looking at how we learn from complaints. We’re on the lookout for someone with knowledge of repairs or maintenance to help us with this important work.
If this sounds like you, email involveme@irwellvalley.co.uk or call us on 0300 561 1111 and ask to speak to Jen Smith.
