One of our longest standing customers, who has been a resident one of our independent living schemes for more than 36 years, has celebrated an extra special birthday.
Emma Roberts celebrated her 100th birthday in November and enjoyed a belated celebration with residents and colleagues just before Christmas.
The great-grandmother is both the oldest resident at the scheme and also the longest-standing - having moved in in August 1987. She even remembers the second half of the block being built.
Emily Makin, scheme manager, said Emma is an ‘inspiration’ to everyone there.
Emily said: “Emma likes to get her nails done and wear brightly coloured lipstick and colourful earrings. She doesn’t like to stay in and goes out when she can most days, using her free bus pass.
“She has a garden in front of her living room and takes a lot of pleasure planting flowers and seeing them blossom. She went out to do some gardening last summer with a hoe and a rake, much to the awe and amazement of the other residents.
