Hello, I’m Chelsea and I’m excited to be one of your new Neighbourhood officers for Sale West. I cover Hurst, Hamilton, Epsom, Lingfield, Catterick, and Haydock Avenues.

I have eight years of experience working in social housing, including supported living and tenancy sustainment and I’m enjoying getting stuck into this new venture. I hope together we can take care of the environment and keep our neighbourhoods clean and tidy.

Whilst doing my recent Neighbourhood Inspection across the estate, it was great to see the place looking well-maintained and cared-for in the main.

It did highlight some issues with recycling and the importance of using the correct bins and some residents have also been in touch with me directly about waste management issues. Using the right bins is really important because if a bin contains the wrong type of rubbish, it may not be collected by the council and this in turn causes waste to build up.

I recently with our partners at Trafford Council tomorrow (30th January) to discuss how we can work together to get on top of these issues and make improvements for customers. Discussions were positive, though I was asked to remind customers if a collection is missed, you should inform the council.

I’m also planning a community litter pick for the estate once the spring weather kicks in - everyone is welcome, and I’d love to see you there! I’ll share further details soon. You can contact me by emailing – Chelsea.newton@irwellvalley.co.uk

Hi everyone, I’m Paul and I cover Sale Moor and Sale West - Thirsk, Newbury, Chepstow, Ascot, Kempton, Aintree, and Goodwood Avenues.

I want to thank the residents of the Sale West estate for the warmest of welcomes as a new neighbourhood officer for the area. Having recently moved to Manchester, I am eager to immerse myself into the community and meet you all.

I am a strong advocate of social housing, a lover of honey sweetened tea, but most importantly, an experienced neighbourhood officer.

As your neighbourhood officer I am keen to discuss people’s long-term housing. Are you considering down-sizing? Or have another child on the way?

Are there changes in your circumstances that mean you need to move? Please reach out for advice on how to open a housing application and ensure you are in the best possible position for the future.

It’s great to see many of our residents take great pride in where they live. I understand with the cost of living and busy schedules, garden maintenance is something that can fall on the back burner. Over the coming months, I will be reaching out to those with untidy gardens to discuss the support available to them.

I regularly visit the Sunshine Cafe for chips and gravy, so if you see me, please do say hello! The café will once again be serving up free school meals for children across the estate during February half term – thanks to funding from Our Sale West and the Irwell Valley Foundation – and don’t forget they run Strictly Lunch every Tuesday and Thursday too. This is a chance for older members of the community to get together for a chat over a home-cooked meal - and all for just £2.50, including a two-course set menu and drink. Hopefully I’ll see you there one day soon!

Hello, I’m Jon and I’m the neighbourhood officer covering Heatherway, Stretford, Timperley, Urmston, Flixton and Bowden Vale.

Over the last few months, I have been working with customers to keep our neighbourhoods clean, tidy and safe.

I’m currently working on making changes to the bin areas at Hornbeam and Epping Drive. This is to help residents with bin collections and to ensure collections aren’t missed.

During my Community Check-ins across the different neighbourhoods I serve, I noticed some issues with fly tipping and have been working with our estates team to keep areas tidy.

Please remember to dispose of your waste correctly and considerately –you can find more information and support with this below.

With the high cost of living, don’t forget there is lots of support in Sale for local residents, especially to help with the cost of food. Details of projects in the area include:

  • Trafford South Foodbank – Sale West Youth & Community Centre, Newbury Ave, M33 4QW - Tuesday 11am to 1pm
  • The Trussell Trust Foodbank – St Albans C of E Church, Lindsell Rd, WA14 5NX – contact on 07749 378447.

I’m also in the process of organising a monthly drop-in session in Timperley to make it easier for residents to come and see me and discuss any potential issues. I’ll keep you updated once this has been finalised.

Recycling and bulky waste

As fly-tipping and waste management are currently common issues across Trafford, we wanted to share a couple of useful resources to help you recycle where you can and use bins correctly – something which is especially important in communal bin stores.

There’s a useful guide from Trafford Council here

Remember if you need to dispose of bulky items, you can take them to the Chester Road Household Waste & Recycling Centre, M32 9AU for free. It’s open Monday to Sunday 8am to 6pm.

If you don’t have transport available, Trafford Council also offer a heavy or bulky items collection service for up to 5 items. You can find out more by clicking here.
