How we are managed

The work of Irwell Valley Homes is overseen by our Board of Management. The Board is responsible for ensuring that we have appropriate governance arrangements in place to achieve our corporate objectives. One of our current Board Members are also residents of the Association – ensuring that customers' views are heard at the highest level.

Board Members set out and agree our corporate objectives and values, make policy and strategic decisions and monitor performance to ensure that our objectives are met. They also support and advise the Strategic Leadership Team.

Three committees support the Board - the Governance and Remuneration Committee, the Audit Committee and the Development Committee.

Day-to-day management of the organisation is delivered by our Strategic Leadership Team

Irwell Valley Homes is regulated by the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH). The main role of the RSH is to set out the regulatory framework within we must operate and monitor our activities against this framework. This includes setting out standards that we are expected to follow in relation to governance, value for money (vfm) and financial viability.  There are also consumer standards which set out the expectations for customer and tenancy focused areas including repairs, involvement, lettings, complaints and dealing with ASB for example. All these standards are all clearly set out in the Regulatory Standards.

We produce an Annual Self Assessment, which identifies how we are performing against the RSH standards. This assessment is available for customers to scrutinise by clicking on this link or by requesting a copy to be sent to you.

Our Board want to demonstrate the highest standards of openness, transparency and integrity.  They have, therefore, adopted the National Housing Federation (NHF) Code of Governance 2020 and the Code of Conduct 2012.  Every year, the Board measure their compliance against these codes. As an open and transparent organisation, we require all Board members and colleagues to declare any connections, interests or potential conflicts on an annual basis. This information is recorded in our Public Register - which is available for review by contacting the Governance & Assurance Team.
