Bury Council Support Fund

Bury Support Fund can provide food parcels and grants to pay for gas, electricity or goods.  Applications are discretionary and there to help meet one-off needs rather than on-going expenses.  

 

The fund’s ‘crisis payments’ are there to help for a few days, if you can’t get money from anywhere else e.g., if your benefit payment has been delayed.

Bury's Household Support Fund can help with financial support for vulnerable households who are already working with support agencies in the area.

Manchester Credit Union – which serves Bury residents - has been working in the area for more than 30 years, offering affordable loans and savings solutions which help the local community.

Bolton and Bury Citizens Advice provide free, confidential and impartial advice to Bolton residents around issues including money worries and debt, benefits advice or queries about employment.

Support with food and other essentials

If you’re on certain benefits and are pregnant or have a child under four, you’re eligible for a Healthy Start card.

Receive £8.50 a week for children aged 0 to 1 and £4.25 a week for those aged 1 to 4. The card can be spent in some UK stores on fruit, vegetables, formula, and milk, and you also qualify for free vitamins. Cards are topped up every four weeks.
