This National Apprenticeship Week we are celebrating the fantastic contribution our apprentices make to Irwell Valley Homes. So, let's find out more about them - who they are, what they do and what they like about working here...

Meet Hunaid

Hunaid is our Communications and Marketing Apprentice and supports the Communications and Marketing team. He helps with social media, internal articles, research, maintains our website and supports with administration tasks.

"Working at Irwell Valley Homes really changed my life for the better... I was really struggling, and it feels so good to work in such a lovely place in such a great team. Every day is different with new opportunities and new people to meet which is something we have all missed during Covid. I enjoy meeting new people, making connections and helping the team out wherever I can. I chose this route as it had the most support for those just starting out as I have just graduated from university. I am grateful Irwell Valley Homes gave me a chance when no one else would. I owe a lot to them!"

Meet Josh

Josh is our Gas Servicing Apprentice and supports the Gas team. He helps with carrying out gas servicing and repairs whilst under the supervision of the engineer he is working with and completing gas certificates which are an essential legal document to ensure our customer's safety.

"I like working for Irwell Valley Homes as all of my co-workers are friendly and for someone like me who is close to completing my apprenticeship, the support from all the other engineers has been a massive help.

I chose the apprenticeship route because I'm not a sit down at a desk person and the hands-on, on-site experience of doing a trade is better than learning from a college desk and textbooks."

Meet Misbah

Misbah is our IT apprentice and supports the IT team. She works closely with the IT helpdesk to resolve day to day issues that come in. She's responsible for logging tickets and calling colleagues to find out more information. She also does some configuration and testing on our systems.

"Irwell Valley has a very friendly environment. I enjoy working most parts of my apprentice work, but my favourite part of job is solving issues related users’ accounts and creating technical documents. I chose the apprenticeship route because I always wanted a career in IT, and an apprenticeship is a great opportunity where I can earn as well as get high quality training. It is rewarding and a great chance for me to unlock the door to future careers.”

Meet Sam

Sam is our People apprentice and supports the HR team. He helps with colleague training, maintaining our HR systems, supports the HR advisors with their tasks and takes minutes at meetings.

"I chose the apprenticeship route so I could progress in a new career and receive the relevant training. I love working at Irwell Valley Homes as we are very people orientated and I love the agile working arrangements. I feel it empowers colleagues to be much more productive."
