Join us for our first Community Check-in of 2025!
Next week we’re hosting our first Community Check-in of the year in Haughton Green.
These Community Check-in are designed to pick up any tenancy or neighbourhood issues in the area. We’ll walk around the local area and pick up any issues that need attention. As we’re carrying out a big programme upgrading the roofs in your area, we’ll make sure that this is not creating any issues around the estate as we do our walk around.
Afterwards, we'll let you know about any actions we're taking because of what we found.
We love you to join us for these – if you would like to come along, please get in touch using one of the ways above.
Avery will start from:
- Castleton Court at 10:30am on Tuesday 14th January and will cover all three high rises.
- Tatton Walk at 12pm on Wednesday 15th January.
- Shepherd Walk at 12pm on Thursday 16th January.
Ryan will start from:
- Lancaster Road area from 12pm on Thursday 16th January.
Litter and bins
This week our estates team cleared litter from the estate as best they could in the snow and ice, particularly around the entrance to the Haughton Green playing fields and along Tatton Road and Lancaster Road.
They also emptied the bin inside the fencing near to Fitzgerald Court which has unfortunately become a hotspot for dumping rubbish. This bin will be completely removed next week.
The team continues to attend each week at each of the high-rise blocks to clear any bins which are overflowing and to put the bins out for collection. Please use the correct recycling bin for your rubbish and avoid leaving it on the floor as it creates a pest problem.
You can find out more about what colour bin to use for different types of waste on the Tameside Council website by clicking here.
We do have a pest management plan in place in Haughton Green – with a particular focus on the three high-rise buildings – run by our contractor Clearlands, but please help us to mitigate any issues by disposing of your waste responsibly.
Did you know Tameside Council also has a bin app? You can check collection dates, report missed collections and access real time updates about the service!
Tower block render and fencing
As you know, the fencing and exclusion zone is in place around each of the high-rise buildings as an important safety measure in case any further sections of the render become loose.
We have made progress with our plan to deal with the render and now have a contractor approved to carry out the works. In the coming weeks all residents in the towers will be invited to a meeting where we will share the plans and discuss them with you.
Thank you for your patience with this and for respecting the exclusion zones. Please continue to report any concerns with the scaffolding or fencing to us on 0300 561 1111 as soon as you notice anything.
We will be in touch with full details of the meeting soon.
How to find out what’s on!
You can find the latest dates for your Community Check-Ins and what’s going on via your area page on our website here.
Community notices and events are also advertised on our Facebook page, inside the Oasis Community Centre and via the three digital noticeboards within the foyers of each high-rise building.
Sending our best wishes for 2025. We’re looking forward to working with you in the year ahead to make Haughton Green a great place to live.
Kind regards,
Ryan and Avery
